Ten Years at WFSB
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
WOW, can you imagine I've been with WFSB for 10 years ! What a wonderful journey its been. It isn't about the destination, it's all about the journey. So let me take this opportunity to thank you, our loyal viewers and extended family for making WFSB your choice for local news. I'm so proud to be a part of the team.
In January 1998, Channel 3 put their faith in me in providing you coverage of the Holy Father's historic meeting with President Fidel Castro of Cuba. Soon after my return, WFSB selected me to anchor Eyewitness News during the weekends. We launched the Eyewitness News Bureau in New London to better inform viewers in the growing counties in New London and Windham.
2008 will bring even more opportunities for Eyewitness News and the viewers we serve.
THANK YOU!!!! From our family to yours Happy NEW YEAR!!!
My resolution for 08' - finish that MGA....we'll have an update soon. What's your resolution??

WFSB New London Bureau
Goodbye 2007, you certainly kept the mobile newsroom rolling.
We welcomed the year with frustrated employees at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Many made-good their New Year's Eve sick-out threat. Before Casino preparations were underway for New Years Eve 2008, dealers would approve union representation by the United Auto Workers. In 2008 you can expect more recruiting by other unions.
A year ago spending $2.24 per gallon for fuel was outrageous! Today I spent $3.52 per gallon for diesel in my Jetta and wonder what I'll be saying a year from now, $4.52???
Some of the more unpleasant news highlights covered this past year by the Southeast Connecticut News Bureau of WFSB - The murder of a New London package store owner; The death of 3 babies under the watch of their caregivers; The infestation of flies in several communities last summer! Yucckk.
There were a host of pleasant news highlights too: Electric Boat getting Congressional funding for 2 Submarines per year!; The Huge success of the Cruise Ship Task Force- delivering an unprecedented number of passenger Cruise Ships to New London Harbor.; Take your daughter to work day- my daughter Taylor became the Eyewitness to Eyewitness News and Dad in action. Then there was the return to Gillette Castle of actor William Gillette's restored electric engine after 60 plus years!
That was just the news portion of 2007, what about behind the scenes at WFSB? A pipe burst in the basement of Constitution Plaza nearly taking Channel 3 off the Air. But thanks to a truly dedicated team of broadcasters and good community neighbors we stayed "ON-THE-AIR".
WFSB turned 50 and moved to a new state of the art broadcast facility in Rocky Hill.
"Better Connecticut" is launched with Scot Haney and Kara Sundlund!
On a more personal note; our oldest gets married, another graduates from Fordham, while the youngest steps into kindergarten. Phewwwwwww! I need a break. CYA in 2008!

Its the most wonderful time of the year...
Tis the Season! Enjoy and savor. I can't believe how quickly time marches on. It seems I just finished doing the leaves, Halloween hit....the next day felt like Thanksgiving, and now its the Holiday Shopping rush before Christmas! WOWWW. Can't we just stop the clock for a day or so and admire those around us who make our lives so rich and fulfilling.
While you're out doing your errands and visiting friends, drive safely. I've seen so many people putting the pedal to the metal trying to do too much in such a short time. It's not worth it, slow down.
I had a conversation in the newsroom the other day with one of our producers about how parents (and students) schedule everything until you can hardly breath. Ok, I'm guilty too. Maybe this week, I'll slow down.
Are you guilty of packing your schedules until you really don't have any free time? Write me, let me know.
Happy Holidays!
